Time to Prep Parts
Meet Eli, he's been working at HOGWORKZ for a while now in the paint department. His role is to prepare all parts for paint, making sure they are ready to go before sending them to the booth. Follow along as he gets the new parts ready for our Performance Road Glide... which is about to get an epic custom paint job. This video is focuses on what goes into preparing an inner fairing, and making sure it's perfect before giving it a custom black and bronze paint job. Eli is very passionate about his work, and you can tell he cares about doing things right. Taming the Angles & Sanding the Scratches
The Road Glide is set to be transformed into a show-stopping masterpiece, showcasing cutting-edge design and top-tier performance parts. At the heart of this revamp is a custom paint job spearheaded by Raf, our head painter. Drawing inspiration from the 1970s while integrating a modern twist, Raf plans to incorporate dark hues with eye-catching metallic flakes that complement the bike’s titanium bronze accents.
The Art of Inner Fairing Paint Prep
Eli spends most of his time in this video working on the Road Glide's inner fairing. He says this piece is super important because it's right in front of you when you ride, and it has a tricky design with lots of angles and hard-to-reach spots. He points out all the marks and scratches – like transfer marks, scuffs, and gouges – and tells us how he's going to fix them. He uses a variety of sandpapers, including 600 grit, 320 grit, a red scuff pad, and special tools like a foam sanding pad he made to get into tight areas. He also talks about how important good lighting is and why he uses a red scuff pad.
