Michigan Weather vs. The Commute
Here in frigid Michigan, winter shows absolutely no mercy—and yesterday, HOGWORKZ learned that the hard way.
The day started innocent enough: a light sprinkle and a manageable 40 degrees. But Michigan weather has more mood swings than a toddler. By noon, temps plummeted to 15 degrees, and the rain turned our parking lot into a skating rink. When Mother Nature calls for chaos, we at least try to plan safe trips home for ourselves and our families… emphasis on try.
When it came time to leave, our manager Noah headed up the slip n slide we call HOGWORKZ Drive. Alexis from customer service and I were discussing our own survival plans through the winter weather advisory, scrolling through reports of accidents popping up everywhere from side roads to highways. While talking about one accident less than a mile away, the phone rang.
It was Noah. He wasn't calling for a tow truck; he was calling to request a saw from our paint department… and a hot coffee.
That’s when we found out he’d lost a fight with an ice patch.
Thankfully, Noah was completely safe. Unfortunately, we couldn’t say the same for his ‘08 Mitsubishi Lancer. The front end was gone, and the headlight was smashed.
But Noah needed to get home.
In a rush to get the car back on the road, he raided the returns bin. He grabbed a 7” Silvertooth LED, a Road King Headlight Harness, and a stack of Metal HOGWORKZ Garage Signs.
He wired the harness into the car's electrical system, cut up the metal signs to rebuild his missing bumper, and sprayed the whole thing with Denim Black paint.
If you look at the photos, you can see the result. The HOGWORKZ LED is actually brighter than his remaining stock headlight. And the bumper? Well, if you squint, she’s mint.
⚠️ DISCLAIMER: We do not recommend attempting this on your own vehicle. This is NOT the intended use for our headlights (or our garage signs), and doing so will void your warranty. This was strictly a temporary, emergency fix by a trained professional to get home safely in a blizzard. Please drive safe, ride safe, and DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
