1. Prepare Your Saddlebag Lid:

  • Open your saddlebag lid.
  • Remove the Lid Tether: Using either a T15 or T20 Torx bit, remove the two screws that attach the lid tether to your saddlebag lid. Allow the tether to hang inside the bag during installation. If you have a friend, have them hold the saddlebag lid while you remove the tether to prevent it from falling.

2. Remove the OEM Latch Cover:

  • Locate the three screws holding the OEM latch cover to the hinge. These are typically T15 screws.
  • Remove the three screws. Before removing the last screw, make sure to hold the latch cover firmly to prevent it from falling to the ground.
  • Carefully remove the OEM latch cover.

3. Drill a Hole for the LED Wire:

  • Line up the new LED latch cover with the saddlebag hinge. The new cover has a pre-drilled hole for the LED wire.
  • Mark the spot on your saddlebag where the wire hole needs to be drilled. This hole will typically be in the middle of the "square triangle" area on the saddlebag.
  • Using a 7/16" drill bit, carefully drill a hole through your saddlebag at the marked location.

4. Install the New LED Latch Cover:

  • Feed the LED wire from the new latch cover through the hole you just drilled in the saddlebag.
  • Align the three mounting holes on the new latch cover with the clearance holes on the saddlebag hinge.
  • From the inside of the saddlebag, use the fine-thread T15 screws provided (or reuse your OEM T15 screws) to secure the latch cover. Do not use the coarse-thread screws, as those are for the plastic tether attachment.
  • With the lid open (and if possible, with someone holding the latch cover from the underside), securely fasten the three screws.

5. Reattach the Lid Tether:

  • Once the latch cover is securely attached, reattach your lid tether to the saddlebag lid using the original screws.

6. Route the LED Wire:

  • Drill a second 7/16" hole on the inside of your saddlebag. This hole should be just below the front tightening knob for your saddlebag.
  • Attach the adhesive zip tie mounts to the inside of your saddlebag to create a path for the LED wire.
  • Route the LED wire from the latch cover through these zip tie mounts.
  • Feed the wire through the second hole you drilled, allowing it to exit the saddlebag.
  • Run the wire forward from this exit point, up underneath the seat, where it will connect to the main wiring harness.

7. Connect the Wiring Harness:

  • Locate your OEM 6-pin connector on your motorcycle's wiring.
  • Take the new wiring harness splitter included in your kit.
  • Disconnect the OEM 6-pin connector.
  • Connect one end of the splitter to the OEM 6-pin connector.
  • Connect the other end of the splitter to the original connection point. You will now have two wires from the splitter, one for each saddlebag.
  • Connect the connector from your LED latch cover wire to one of the splitter wires.

8. Test the Lights:

  • Turn on your motorcycle to test the running lights and blinkers.
  • Troubleshooting Tip: If you only have running lights and no blinkers, the wires are reversed. Simply flip the connectors before tidying up your wiring. Always test before securing all your wiring to avoid re-running cables.

9. Repeat for the Other Side (if applicable):

  • Once one side is complete and tested, repeat steps 1-8 for the other saddlebag.

10. Clean Up Wiring (Optional):

  • For a cleaner look, consider purchasing HogWorkz Diamond Stitch Liners, which can help conceal the wiring inside your saddlebags.
