1. Prepare the Motorcycle:

  • Remove the saddlebags and side covers from the motorcycle.
  • Lift the motorcycle using a center stand or a motorcycle jack. Position the jack underneath the frame.
  • Raise the bike until the rear wheel is about half an inch to an inch off the ground. This will allow the swingarm to drop slightly when you remove the shocks, giving you enough space to install the new lowering link.
  • Place a piece of wood underneath the rear tire. This will prevent the tire from dropping too far and hitting the exhaust when the shocks are removed.

2. Remove the OEM Shocks:

  • Use a 3/4-inch socket to remove the upper and lower shock bolts on both sides of the motorcycle.
  • Carefully take the shocks off the bike.
  • If you have air shocks, remember to disconnect the air hose before removing them.

3. Install the Lowering Link:

  • Grab the lowering link. The shorter end will be at the bottom.
  • Position the lowering link into the lower shock mount hole.
  • Secure it with the shorter 13-inch, 3/4-drive screw. Make sure to use a lock washer on the outside.
  • Hand-tighten the screw for now.
  • Take the t55 half-inch 13 screws for the top. Place a washer on the outside and the lock washer and lock nut on the inside.
  • Attach the shock to the top mounting point of the lowering link.
  • Place the 1/4-inch spacer between the motorcycle's mount and the shock.
  • Insert the t55 half-inch 13 screw with its lock washer and a regular washer through the top mount.
  • Hand-tighten the bolts on both sides. Do not fully tighten them at this point, as you will need to do that once the motorcycle is back on the ground.

4. Lower the Bike and Tighten All Bolts:

  • Slowly lower the motorcycle back down to the ground.
  • Once the bike is resting on its own weight, go back and fully tighten all the bolts on the lowering link and shocks.

5. Adjust the Coil Shocks (If Applicable):

  • If you have spring or non-air shocks, check the clearance between the shock's adjusting knob and the sprocket. The lowering kit may cause the knob to be too close to the sprocket.
  • Loosen the set screw on the side of the adjusting knob by turning it out about a turn.
  • Twist the adjusting knob to create more clearance between it and the sprocket.
  • Once you have enough clearance, retighten the set screw.
  • Check the clearance with the saddlebag. Adjust the knob's position as needed to ensure the saddlebag can still fit properly and clear the knob.

6. Install the Bag Spacers:

  • Take the bag spacers included with the kit.
  • Place a spacer on the outside of each saddlebag, aligning it with the grommets.
  • Put the hand knobs through the spacers and grommets to reattach the saddlebags. The spacers will move your bags out slightly to clear the newly positioned shocks.
