1. Prepare Your Detachable Part:

  • Remove your tour pack (or other detachable part) from the motorcycle.
  • Place it on a stable surface like a bench or table.

2. Remove the Old Clamp:

  • Using your 5/32" Allen wrench, remove the screw on the old quick-release clamp.
  • Note the "sex bolt" that is pressed into the side of the mount. If your mount already has one, you can reuse it. If not, the HogWorkz kit includes one.

3. Install the Locking Clamp:

  • Orient Spacers and Spring Washer: Pay close attention to the orientation of the small washer and the spring washer on your new locking latch. The small washer goes on the outside, and the spring washer goes on the inside with the sex bolt.
  • Transfer Spring Washer (if reusing sex bolt): If you are reusing your existing sex bolt, remove the screw from the new locking latch and transfer the spring washer from the new latch to your existing sex bolt.
  • Position Locking Latch: Place the locking latch onto the mount, ensuring the sex bolt (either reused or new) and spring washer are correctly positioned.
  • Insert Small Washer: Place the small washer (from the kit) inside the hole of the locking latch.
  • Apply Loctite: Apply a small amount of Loctite to the new screw and washer.
  • Tighten Screw: Insert the screw and tighten it securely with your 5/32" Allen wrench.

4. To Unlock the Latch:

  • Insert the key into the lock and turn the key approximately a quarter turn, then turn it back.
  • Remove the key.
  • The pin on the latch should now be in the "up" position, indicating it is unlocked, then you can now unlatch your detachable part.

5. To lock the Latch:

  • Ensure the detachable part is securely latched in place on your motorcycle.
  • With the pin in the "up" (unlocked) position, simply push the pin down. It is spring-loaded and will stay down.
  • This indicates that your quick-release clamp is now locked, preventing unauthorized removal of your mounted hardware.

6. Important Reminders:

  • Always ensure both latches are correctly rotated and fully engaged when attaching your detachable part.
  • When locking, make sure the pin stays down. If it springs back up, it's not locked.
  • When unlocking, ensure the pin goes fully into the "up" position before attempting to unlatch.
